SNGB School Bridge League
Seattle NextGenBridge presents our school bridge program primarily to Middle Schools, 6th-8th grades.
Our program features a fun, inclusive, non-judgmental approach to bridge in a safe, no bullying, positive
environment. We start with Standard American bridge and learn play of the hand- where all the students are engaged in experiential learning in the first class.
The 16 hr minimum American Contract Bridge League (ACBL) school lesson series provides a great basis to students, many of whom have never heard of bridge. It is designed for beginners. This fully funded program is sponsored by the ACBL, includes teacher stipends and a free textbook for all participating students. Bridge brings enhanced benefits to young players. With many teaching materials available and current hi tech tools such as online learning, apps and youtube tutorials, students can proceed at their own pace. As with anything, they get better with practice play. Often it becomes a family activity where the students teach friends and relatives and we encourage parents to support junior players.
Bridge has meny benefits for young people. It enhances analytical skills, critical thinking, and problem solving skills. Bridge helps students with social interaction and teamwork, while building trust and self- confidence with a partner or as a team. There are no socio- economic or physical boundaries to learn bridge. You just need drive, determination and discipline. Research studies show that students who learn how to play this sport have increased scores in math, reading, comprehension and improved short term memory retention.
Whether bridge is part of After School Enrichment programs or taught in a regular class or weekend supervised games, SNGB tailors our approach to meet the needs of all students taught by wonderful bridge mentors.
